Girls basketball league

WHEN: Signups through April 20.

WHERE: Tracy Boys & Girls Club, 753 W. Lowell Ave.,

DETAILS: The Tracy Boys & Girls Club will host the Junior Warriors basketball league for girls 6 through 14 years old. Games will be played on Saturdays from April 21 to June 9. There will be a player clinic Tuesday, April 3, and the club is also in need of coaches for the league.

First Tee of Central Valley

WHERE: Putting for Birdie, 20065 S MacArthur Dr.

DETAILS: The First Tee of Central Valley, which serves youths ages 5 to 17 to teach life skills and character development through the game of golf, will have a kick-off celebration for its newest program here in Tracy. Saturday’s event is the official launch, and The First Tee will begin clinic sessions in May.

Cheer tryouts

WHEN: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21.

DETAILS: Athletic Perfection All-Star Cheer Gym will host tryouts for its 2012-2013 All-Star cheer teams. Boys and girls ages 3 to 18 are welcome. Participants only need to come on one of the three days, and everyone makes a team.

Pinkie Phillips memorial and benefit

WHEN: 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday, May 5

DETAILS: The Tracy Tritons swim team will host a lap swimming event at West High’s Pinkie Phillips Aquatics Center from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, to raise money for the new Pinkie Phillips Memorial Scholarship. The public is also invited to a memorial at 6 p.m., where friends, students, co-workers and former swimmers will honor Pinkie's contributions to the community.

COST: $10 donation for lap swimming includes commemorative swim cap. There is no cost to attend the memorial.

Charity mud run for kids

WHEN: 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 12

WHERE: Eagal Lakes Resort, 12 W. Lorenzen Rd.

DETAILS: Recon Run for Kids is a 400-meter obstacle race for kids ages 13. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The day includes refreshments and a tour of Eagal Lakes Resort.

Kimball freshman football

DETAILS: Kimball High freshman football coach Jeff Telles will host a short meeting for all prospective freshmen football players and their parents. Topics include physicals, summer practice schedule, and the upcoming Valley Oak League season.

Bowling karaoke contest

WHEN: 7 p.m., every Monday through May

DETAILS: The Eighth International Bowling Karaoke Contest started on March 5 with the first in a series of weekly sing-offs. Singers compete for a chance to make the local finals, and winners go to the finals in the Eldorado Showroom at the Bowl Expo in Reno in June, with contest organizers picking up the cost of hotel and air fare.

Wolf Pack boys basketball camp

WHEN: Monday through Friday, June 4 to 8

WHERE: Steve Thornton Gymnasium, West High, 1775 W. Lowell Ave.

DETAILS: West High’s Wolf Pack Summer Boys Basketball Camp will be divided into three sessions. The varsity session will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day, freshman and junior varsity players will meet from noon to 2:30 p.m., and elementary and middle school players will meet from 3 to 6 p.m.

COST: $65 for varsity and JV players, $75 for elementary and middle school players. There is a $10 discount for all players who sign up before May 11.
