Softball: Tracy to open playoffs at home Tuesday

Tracy High’s softball team grabbed home field advantage for the playoffs on Friday, May 11 with an 18-0 win over Chavez at Arnaiz Fields in Stockton.

With the win, the Bulldogs (22-5, 8-2 SJAA) finished the San Joaquin Athletic Association season in second place.

Tracy starting pitcher Julia Fernandez struck out 10 batters over five innings and gave up just one hit against Chavez (6-16, 0-9 SJAA). Tracy started with a seven-run first inning and finished with a five-run fifth inning to end the game early.

In between, Jazmin Clarke hit a two-run homer in the third inning and batted in five runs altogether. Alee Balanon singled twice and tripled, Brianna Warner and Haley Nunes had three hits each, and Fernandez and Tayler Misfeldt both doubled and singled.

Up next is Sheldon High of Sacramento, the third place team from the Delta River League, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the Tracy Sports Complex, in an out-bracket game of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs.



Sophomores: Tracy 14, Chavez 2

Tracy High finished its season at 19-3-1 overall and 7-3 in the San Joaquin Athletic Association after the Bulldogs won in six innings over the Titans from Chavez High on Friday, May 11, at Arnaiz Fields in Stockton.

Starting pitcher Rebekah Delarosa gave up no hits, four walks and two unearned runs for the win.

Meghan Rinnert had three hits and batted in two runs, Kristen Olson had two hits, Kimberly Paschal hit an RBI double, Carmen Alfaro singled for her first hit of the season, and Sylvia Guasch and Leilani Scanlon also had hits.



Tracy 12, Bear Creek 1

Everyone in Tracy’s lineup scored a run in the Bulldogs’ five-inning win at Bear Creek High in Stockton on May 9.

Starting pitcher Kimberly Paschal allowed three hits and one unearned run and struck out five batters for the win.

Kristen Olson hit a triple to contribute to her five RBIs for the day, Lyndsee Cracraft had two hits, Felisha Suniga tripled and Ashley Diaz singled and batted in a run.
