Junior Wolf Pack Cheer Camp

WHEN: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12

WHERE: West High cafeteria, 1775 W. Lowell Ave.

DETAILS: West High’s cheerleaders will teach youngsters some cheers and a routine to perform during the Sept. 16 varsity football game against Freedom High.

Oktoberfest Fun Run

WHEN: 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24

WHERE: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1635 Chester Drive, Lowell Avenue entrance

DETAILS: The course will run through the surrounding neighborhood, starting and ending at St Paul’s. The run is part of the St. Paul’s-Bella Vista Christian Academy Oktoberfest celebration and supports the “Building Together Today” program and West High’s varsity boys basketball team. Registration will be from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. for the 8 a.m. race. A pancake breakfast afterward is free for all runners, and non-runners can also eat for small fee starting at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:15 a.m. Registration by mail can be sent to Bella Vista Christian Academy, c/o Michelle Loomis, 1221 Claremont Court, Tracy, CA 95376.

COST: $20 registration before Sept. 15, $30 day of race; includes T-shirt and other gifts

Youth Hoops volunteers needed

WHEN: October through February

DETAILS: The city of Tracy Parks and Community Service Department seeks volunteers to coach the Youth Hoops program from Oct. 22 to Feb. 19. The recreational basketball league for third- through eighth-graders includes one practice a week for each team and Saturday games. No coaching experience is necessary, and the city will host a training clinic for coaches before the start of the season. Volunteers must pass a background check.
