The second Walk for the Cure will begin at 10 a.m. at Tracy Toyota, 2895 N. Naglee Road, followed by a barbecue, music and a silent auction.
Former 49ers great Ronnie Lott and Shonta Scoggins, widow of Lott’s USC football teammate Eric Scoggins Sr., are heading up plans for the event. It will be held in memory of Scoggins, who died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in Tracy in 2008, and dedicated to Tracy native Kenny Perez, who lost his life to ALS in March 2011.
Last year’s inaugural Walk for the Cure generated $10,000 for Eric’s Vision, a nonprofit ALS support group, and TDI Research Center, which focuses solely on a cure for ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Information about this year’s walk can be obtained from Shonta Scoggins, 213-210-7903 or shonta@ericsvision.org.
