Former Tracy resident Ruben San Miguel Villalpando Sr., 89, of Fresno, died from complications of multiple strokes and a heart attack Sunday, Dec. 2, at Fresno Rehabilitation Center in Fresno.

Mr. Villalpando was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Floresville, Texas, and worked for H.J. Heinz Co. more than 10 years in the 1960s.

Survivors include three sons, Ruben Villalpando Jr. of Fresno, Victor Villalpando of Tracy and David Villalpando of Dallas, Texas; three siblings, Robert Villalpando, Velia Corrigan and Lydia Mathis; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ofelia Castillo Lopez Villalpando, who died April 14; his parents, Jose G. and Ofelia S.M. Villalpando; and two brothers, Raul Villalpando and Jose “Joe" Villalpando.

A memorial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at First Mexican Baptist Church, 1340 E St., in Fresno. Cherished Memories Memorial Chapel, 3000 Tulare St., in Fresno, is handling arrangements.
