Today’s Remember When “mystery photo,” above left, shows the grand opening of a retail business on West 10th Street in downtown Tracy. Who are those in the photo, what was the business and what year was it opened?

Last week’s Remember When “mystery photo,” below left, shows four members of the Tracy High speech team holding a trophy won at a 1973 speech tournament. Left to right: Virginia Mitchell, Bill Rieger, Liz Remonda and Phil Anderson.

They were high-point scorers for the Tracy High team that won first-overall honors at a Yosemite Forensic League tournament in Modesto. All were students of Ernest Poletti, Tracy High’s legendary speech teacher of that era.

Identifying those in the photo were Cheryl Martin, Gail Bacchetti Gabbert, Steve and Patty Carter Millingar, Anne Fukano and Kathy Minner-Jones.
