Last week’s Remember When mystery photo, at top, shows a view of Central Avenue, looking north, in 1920. At right is the two-story Roberts Building, constructed two years earlier in 1928 by contractor F.W. Roberts at the former location of the Charles Slack home.

On the ground floor of the building in 1930 were Turner Hardware Co., on the corner, and the Men’s Shop, operated by Sergio Alvarez farther north. On the second floor were the Masonic Temple, two dental offices, the law office of George Wadsworth and the office of the West Side Irrigation District.

Evelyn Grebil identified the original tenants of the building.

Today’s Remember When mystery photo shows a police officer and a student reminding motorists to look out for students at the beginning of the 1957 school year. Who are the people in the photo?
