Mr. Sordello, who had been a resident of Emeritus at Heritage Place in recent years, died Friday, Aug, 3.
Born Feb. 8, 1923, in San Jose, he attended Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill and served in the Army Air Forces from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.
Mr. Sordello married Matilda Baumann in 1949, and they moved to Tracy in 1955 to start the Sordello Bros. farming firm with brothers Antone and Richard Sordello.
The brothers farmed for 40 years south of Tracy, growing apricots, almonds and walnuts and also operating a commercial walnut-hulling operation with the help of their wives, Matilda, Elaine and Donna.
Mr. Sordello enjoyed school and sports activities, family camping and fishing trips and meeting family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Sordello and his wife, Teresa, of Tracy, James Sordello and his wife, Debbie, of Milpitas and Robert Sordello and his wife, Kelli, of Banta; two daughters, Marilyn Tuso, and her husband, Chuck, of Tracy and Janice Sordello and Manny of Los Gatos; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Matilda Sordello; parents, Antonio and Marina Sordello; brothers, Antone and Richard Sordello; sister, Madeline Guglielmo; and one granddaughter.
Private burial will be in Santa Clara Mission Catholic Cemetery.
The family prefers memorial contributions in Mr. Sordello’s name to the St. Bernard’s Church Building Fund, 163 E. Eaton Ave., Tracy, CA 95376.
