Tracy 3, Oakdale 3
Tracy’s girls soccer team (2-3-1) traveled to Oakdale on Tuesday to play the Mustangs to a 3-3 tie. Oakdale scored first but Tracy came back with goals from Lexi Poppoff and Autumn Bolton. Oakdale answered with two goals, and Tracy tied it up on a shot from Mariah Serrato.
The Tracy freshman-sophomore team beat Oakdale 3-1. Kelly Brooks scored two goals and Shelby Devlin scored one. Kaitlyn Crone and Cailie Chayrez each had assists.
Stagg 1, Millennium 0
In the Falcons’ second game of the season on Tuesday in Stockton the Millennium and Stagg teams went scoreless through the first half, until the Delta Queens found a gap in the Millennium defense and scored the only goal of the game.
Teams were evenly matched, and goal keeper Brianna Murawski had five saves. Coach Daniel Espinoza said that both teams kept up the pressure all game.
“It was a good game regardless of the outcome,” he said. “I was very pleased with the way the girls performed.”
Millennium 5, Gustine 0
Millennium’s soccer team opened its season with a win on Monday at the Tracy Learning Center. Ivy Torres and Salina Elias scored two goals each and Yasameen Mohammadi scored one. Elias also had an assist, and Daisy Aguayo and Elyssa Perales also had assists.
Tracy at St. Mary’s tournament
Tracy High’s girls soccer team started its season at the St. Mary’s Tournament in Stockton on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25 and 26. Tracy went two-for-three for the weekend.
The Bulldogs won their first game, 1-0, against Sir Francis Drake High of San Anselmo. Autumn Bolton scored for Tracy on an assist from Lexi Poppoff. Poppoff scored both goals in Tracy’s 2-0 win over Rocklin in the second game, with an assist from Gasior on one of them.
The third game against Ponderosa went scoreless in regulation, and Ponderosa won it on the penalty kick shootout at the end. Rocklin came back in the fourth game to take the 1-0 win.
Tracy’s fifth game of the weekend was a 2-2 tie with Whitney, with Whitney winning it on the penalty kick shootout at the end. Melissa Aboud and Paige Johnson scored Tracy’s goals on assists from Poppoff and Outland.
Davis High won the tournament with a 2-1 win in the final over St. Mary’s.
West at Atwater
West High's soccer team was scheduled to play in Atwater on Tuesday. Score of that game was not available.
Baseball
Freshmen: Tracy 12, Kimball 2
Tracy’s freshman team beat Kimball on Wednesday in the first of two meetings this week between the two teams.
Tracy started with a 4-0 lead in the first inning at Tracy High after Craig Butcher hit a two-run single to drive in Cameron Pham and Josh Brakkee, who had both walked. Butcher advanced on a steal and a passed ball, and then came home on a catcher error. Clayton Fegett also reached after he was hit by a pitch and came home after Anthony Singh and Chaswick Samaniego walked and Michael Motyka was hit by a pitch.
Kimball scored in the second inning when Brennan Bowman hit a sacrifice fly to bring in in Luke Johnson and Paul Salazar, who had both walked. Bowman got two hits for the day and Matt Rodriguez also got a hit.
A combination of errors, walks and batters hit by pitches kept Tracy rounding the bases in an eight-run fourth inning. Butcher drove in a run on single and Fegett batted in two more.
Brakkee pitched two innings for Tracy and allowed one hit and two runs for the win. Curtis and Singh also pitched for Tracy.
Golf
Kimball 226, McNair 316
Kimball High’s golfers evened their record to 1-1 with a win over McNair Tuesday at Tracy Golf and Country Club. Brett Williams led with a three-over-par 39 on the par-36 course. Philip Simpson shot 41, Riley Pizl 43, Jack Gustafson 48, Michael Crooms 55, and Theo Forniciari 77.
Pitman 244, Kimball 277
Kimball High’s golf team started its season on Monday with a loss at Diablo Grande Golf Course in Patterson. Brett Williams led the Jaguars with a score of 44 on the par-36 course, and Philip Simpson scored 45. Jack Gustafson shot 56, Michael Crooms 64, Theo Forniciari 68 and Karin Bains 72.
Softball
Millennium 7, Gustine 2
Millennium High’s softball team opened its season with a 7-2 win on Monday over Gustine at the Tracy Sports Complex. The Falcons got eight hits for the day, including two each from freshmen Erica Dominguez and Jasea Gutierrez.
Falcon Coach Sam Haines said he has six talented freshmen to complement the seven returning players from last year’s team, which made the semifinals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII playoffs. Also getting hits for the Falcons were Jaylen Gutierrez with two and Nicole Ochoa and Shyan Carpenter. Melissa Vierra pitched for the Falcons and gave up four hits.
