The injury is not life threatening, police said, and investigators "question the truthfulness of the story" of where or why she was shot, police spokesman Tony Sheneman said.
Apparently she told police she was shot on the 1300 block of West 12th Street, but police found no crime scene there are anywhere else in town, he said.
Workers at Quik Stop on Lincoln Boulevard near 12th were unaware of any shooting. Police detained a car thought to have been involved, but people in it were unrelated to the crime, officers said.
Police have yet to figure out if gangs were involved.

If whatever it is in that head of yours has anything to do with the "league" you are mentioning that I'm out of... well then I'm happy to be on the outside of that one.
Gotta run... mom's calling me for dinner. Please, please, please be meat loaf!
In the past I have read comments here that are insensitve and extremly judgemental. Often when I am in town running errands I look at the people and wonder if the folks standing here with me are the ones that voice such racist, unjust hatred here where they are anonymous. If these comments truly are the opinion of the citizens here I am sorry to be a part this town. I often wonder are the posts real? Are all of the regulars evil and closed minded or are they just trying to get a rise out of the viewers. HHmmmmm?
And talk about naive? (yes naive... I have the correct spelling mister higher education)... what part about "she told the police" don't you understand? She told them what had happened and where it happened. Because they couldn't find anything she's lying? Ever hear of a drive-by? Ever hear of people getting hit in those that aren't the intended targets and have no clue about the shooter's identity? It's usually what ends up happening, because these cowards are not man enough to go toe to toe with someone like they did in the good 'ol days. They asked a Quick Stop employee a block away that sits on the corner of 11th and Lincoln around 5pm on a weekday about the shooting. Really? That's who's going to have the answers? With all that's going on around there at that time, I'm pretty sure it could have easily gone unnoticed at that place.
Look, I'll admit that the neighborhood that this happened in isn't all warm and fuzzy, but that does not mean that everyone in it is trash. Hell, I know for a fact that there are plenty of these gang bangers sitting in 600k houses all over this town... well... 200k now, but that's a whole different issue.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for people expressing their opinions, but those opinions hold much more weight if they have some facts that they are based on. Right now, the only fact stated in the article is that a girl is at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound and the police haven't had any luck verifying what happened from the information she gave them. I just ask that the cold-hearted statements be held in check, because like I said in the previous post... This girl has alot of family and friends whom are long time Tracyites that still get there news from these pages and they really don't need to be reading this sort of unjustified filth being spread about one of their loved ones. And trust me... if it does come out that she is pulling some BS covering up something stupid she has done, her family will be first in line to kick her ass straight. Wish there were more families out there willing to show that tough love. Maybe we'd have fewer of these incidents and we could go back to discussing the hardcore crimes we used to have in this town...like a stolen hammer or a cat stuck under a house.
If self inflicted, gun powder residue on her hand?
Was that taken care of to rule out self infliction?
I hope she is okay, and not in fear for her life by deflecting the truth?
If no blood was found at the scene of where she said she was shot, could be that her type clothes prevented the flow?
Just going to wait till the facts come out.

Hey Tomturkey, I can show you any of the exits so you can leave this town you hate so much. You can also take all of your bay area friends that arent productive citizens of this town with you as well. What are you doing to make this town any better????? Im sure I might know the answer to that one.

people getting shot. this town gets dumber and dumber by the hour
It's sad to see so many of you take the low road and rip this girl apart instead of opening your eyes to the possibility that just maybe there is some truth to what she is saying.
@ChrisRoberts - try NONE of the above.
@dukejack - she's not a charity case my friend. I agree with the substance behind what you are saying, just not who you are saying it about.
@TCY1 - you're a stain on humanity and the world just might be a little better without pricks like you in it. Is it too late to have YOU aborted?
Some days I wonder if this entire town is populated by illiterate punks.
BUT WHAT CAN WE SAY
a-black
b-mexican
c-from the bay area
d-all of the abouve
Anyone want to bet that the girl shot herself in the abdomen, cause it's easier to tell your parents your shot than it is to tell them you're pregnant?
What are you putting up as your bet azzhul? Make it worth my while!
Wow badattitiude49 you are proving your handle fits you.
I have no patience for people who immediately judge. It's attitudes like his that divides us as a people. He sees a short blurb about a violent act and immediately places blame on the victim and at the same time presumes the victim and family or on the dole. He couldn't be farther from the truth. Pizz on him.
Dear society, I won't help you find the shooter but gimme, gimme free emergency care 'cause I been shot!
Look jacoff, before you shoot your mouth off about a VICTIM based on a cheezy headline in an even cheezier "newspaper" you need to wait for the facts. To bad it wasn't you that caught that bullet!
