At 3:22 p.m., a woman at Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, 812 W. Clover Road, told police a man claiming to be an alarm systems monitor went to her house, told her he would send out a technician to change her alarm keypad, and then left a contract for her to sign. Her own alarm company said it didn’t send anyone, and police called the man’s alarm company to see if he was legitimate.
Tracy police logged 151 calls Wednesday, June 20, including the following reports:
12:19 a.m.: Police went to a house on the 100 block of Carmel Way after a man brought a bong out of the trunk of his car to smoke some “medical marijuana.” The man reportedly became unruly when his friend told him to put the bong away. Police checked everyone out and told them to go back inside the house.
12:33 a.m.: Police went to Party Warehouse, 505 W. Grant Line Road, after the Tracy Fire Department was called to put out a fire in a 40-foot storage container. A man at the business called police again at 3:15 a.m. to report that someone was lurking near the burned-out container.
1:54 a.m.: Police went to the Shamrock, 117 W. 11th St., for a report of one man shoving another man and spitting in his face. The alleged assailant was detained on a citizen’s arrest, cited and released.
7:41 a.m.: A Cadillac Escalade and a Chevy Blazer were in a crash at the intersection of Tracy Boulevard and Schulte Road. Nobody was seriously injured, but both cars had to be towed away.
9:33 a.m.: Police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of a parole violation after he was seen walking near the intersection of 11th Street and Taft Avenue. He was held without bail at San Joaquin County Jail, where he also faces potential charges of giving false information to police.
11:25 a.m.: A woman reported that a car crashed into her car while she was driving near the intersection of Corral Hollow Road and Tennis Lane. The cars had to be towed away.
1:21 p.m.: A farmer followed a pickup truck to Valley Recycling, 24504 S. MacArthur Drive, and accused three men of stealing the metal gates that were in the back of the pickup. Police arrived, found one of the men trying to hide in some nearby bushes, and determined that the alleged theft occurred in the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction.
1:55 p.m.: A woman called police from her workplace in Livermore to report that her daughter called her and said a man entered the backyard of their Woodland Lane home and tried to pry open a window. The man reportedly ran off when the girl confronted him.
3:33 p.m.: Someone broke into a house on the 1500 block of Woodland Court and took cash and other property from around the house. The caller said this had happened before, but doesn’t know how the burglar got in or who it could be.
5:21 p.m.: A manager at CVS, 3320 N. Tracy Blvd., told police that a store security guard caught a man trying to steal cigarettes, and the man was putting up a fight. Police arrested the 52-year-old man on suspicion of felony burglary, and he was also booked on a warrant for driving on a suspended license and failure to show for a court appearance. Police took him to San Joaquin County Jail, where he was held on $75,000 bail pending a court appearance Friday in Manteca.
6:04 p.m.: Police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of felony burglary after he reportedly tried to make a fraudulent return at Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road. Police took him to San Joaquin County Jail, where he was held on $50,000 bail and awaits a Friday afternoon court hearing.
8:54 p.m.: Someone called police to report that a 6-year-old girl fell from a balcony on the 3000 block of Simms Lane. Police met with the girl and her parents at Kaiser Hospital in Manteca, and learned that the girl apparently jumped as she acted out a scene from a movie, and broke her foot when she landed. Officers concluded that there was no negligence.
9:16 p.m.: Police and an ambulance went to a car crash at the intersection of Corral Hollow Road and Kavanagh Avenue. The ambulance wasn’t needed, but both cars were towed.
10:59 p.m.: A person at MacArthur Drive and Hotchkiss Street told police that a man with a flashlight was beating up small animals. Police found that the man was a farmer trying to eradicate gophers.
