The driver told police that when the teen began throwing rocks at her vehicle, she turned around and drove at him, allegedly striking the teen.
The boy, who appeared to be uninjured according to witnesses, then got up and started more rocks at the woman’s vehicle. The driver called police, who then arrested her for assault with a deadly weapon, according to the log.
Officers were unable to locate the teen, who witnesses thought was about 18 to 19 years old. The woman said she was scared that the teenager might have been involved in a gang.

Oh, you mean th comment ya made on th 31st an not th 31st post. Took me a second ta figure it out.
It will be an interestin case an yes, I can see an arrest bein warranted but I can also see it not goin ta trial unless thair is stronger evidence than th witnesses an a confession without th person allegedly hurt.
Most certainly th response of tryin ta run th kid over, even though I can understand th frustration, but wastin tax dollars on such a flimsy case isn't gonna make it any better.
Hopefully th person hit will come forward ta testify an then a better case can be made. So far I haven't seen any indication that will happen so it will probably be a waste of time an money.
Won't really comment on CR as enough has already been said an it don't really matter anyway.
Check the 31st post, that's what I wanted to know If you read it. It answered your questions.
How bout you Chris " lack of brains" Roberts.
Thought I did already. Yep, did it on January 29th. Ya must have missed it. Scroll down.
Thanks fer thankin of me though.
Years ago a couple miscreants in San Diego were throwing rocks off a freeway overpass at the cars below. They hit the car of a person I knew, who then crashed into another car. The person I knew died and the other driver is a paraplegic.
The only regret I see in THIS story is that the driver didn't make roadkill out of the lowlife! Too bad they weren't able to pick the kid up with a sponge and squeegee.
The story is certainly one that warrants further reporting by the Press. Maybe the woman and the kid knew each other and had a mutual hatred for one another. Maybe she did something to provoke him first. More information would sure help to better inform the Tracy Press readers.
Without knowing the full details, I can only hope the guilty party (or parties) is held responsible for their own respective misdeeds.
One thing I do know, however, is that I am not content with rolling over as a victim and I am a very accurate driver. I can stop on a dime or I can drive right on through a two-bit thug. My vehicle and I can both handle either one.
Well, at the very least the answer is maybe. It's a fact people have been killed by someones bare hands. It's also a fact people have died from a single punch. Therefor shooting the attacker could be justifed.
Throwing rocks at a moving vehicle should be considered assault with a deadly weapon and in that context the woman and the rest of us have the right to defend ourselves and if our vehicle is our defense of choice so be it, I don't give a damn about the attacker being injured.
Over reaction or sensationalism on my part? Not when you know the following facts, disclaimer, I was in the glass business for 23 years so I know how glass breaks and the sound it can make.
A windshield is laminated so if it's hit by a rock or other flying object it's going to crack but for the most part will maintain it's integrity. However, if the impact has enough force some glass debris could detach and fly in someones face. That alone is not going to kill someone but it sure as hell can damage their eyes or cause them to lose control of the vehicle.
cont
Take that same piece of tempered glass, stand it up and hit it in the body, you are still going to have a whole bunch of small pieces but it will literally explode and sound like a loud bang. In the case of a curved piece of tempered glass such as in vehicles, multiply the force and sound of the explosion, it can sound like a gun, believe me.
Now lets apply this to our situation. If a rock is thrown at a doorglass at a high enough velocity to break it, it will explode. The small pieces of glass on their own will not kill someone but in this case they could cause some pretty good abrasions. Between the sound and the flying glass any one of us could loose control of a vehicle, or swerve as a reaction. Unless you are unreasonable you would have to agree this could lead to all kinds of bad things.
The vehicle hits a tree or other solid object, the driver & passengers could get hurt or die. The driver swerves and hits another vehicle, people can get hurt or die. Worse case, the driver swerves into a a person or a group, people can get hurt or die.
Granted, some 5 year old with no arm throwing a rock at a passing car is one thing, but in this case it was allegedly a 18 or 19 year old. As far as I'm concerned this woman was being attacked and was in danger so she responded, period end of story, the punk gets what he gets.
Oh yea, what if a rock thrown at a vehicle and at the right angle flies through an open window and hits the woman in the head? I believe people have died from being hitting hit in the head with a rock.
Me crazy? Hardly, I just know certain facts you seem to be unaware of. Rather than worrying about the miscreant may you should ask, what if the woman was killed?
I'm with Sneaky and in a just world here's what should happen.
The police track down this punk and charge him with assault with a deadly weapon.
The woman is applauded by all for defending herself and standing up to protect her property and person.
The parents of the punk are forced to pay for any damage done to the womans car. While their miscreant kid gets thrown in jail, they get handed a couple of orange vests for 52 weekends and are forced to sing hi ho hi ho it's off to work we while standing in line to get on the magic bus full of miscreants.
Oh but wait, the soft people in our society who make excuses for criminals will say the woman turned around when she could have kept going. I say bs, the little punk got what he deserved. Actually he didn't get what he deserved as he appeared to be uninjured - too bad.
Actually I wanted ta pose a question, or actually several if ya wanna be precise.
First, don't she have ta have an accuser in order ta be arrested an convicted of this alleged crime?
Second, th cops apparently weren't thair an while thair were several witnesses how do th cops really know she struck this kid with her car?
What if she actually didn't an in a stressed frame of mind thought she did, was told she did an so she confessed to it as a good citizen really should?
Yep, I sort of agree th punk got what he deserved an apparently is uninjured which makes me wonder if she really hit him or just perhaps nudged him.
Hopefully both of em larned somethang frum th ordeal an it won't happen again.
As I recall, in a court of law, ya still have th right ta face yer accuser an since th cops couldn't find this unknown young adult, I can't see how th court could convict her of th crime.
I have no problem with this.
The little pecker deserved it. If you want to threaten the safety of a law abiding citizen dont be surprised when they turn the tables on you.
Do you believe that rocks are not deadly?
One- no you don't need a victim to arrest or convict. You need probable cause to arrest. If you have the suspect calling in and confessing to the crime and independent witnesses who saw the crime. That would lead a reasonable person to believe the crime occurred. is it easier with the victim? Yes, of course. If you kill your wife, bury her so there's nobody to "accuse" you, does that mean you can't be arrested?
Two- you don't have to actually hit the person for it to be a crime. If I shoot at you and miss its still assault with a deadly weapon. If she turned her car around and tried to hit the little dirt bag, that forms the intent to commit the crime.
And your last point. The witnesses are the accusers in this case, as is the suspect who probably has a nice recorded confession on the police phone line.
Just physical evidence can convict you, you don't have to have one witness or victim to be convicted.
So no, you don't have a right to face your accuser if there isn't one.
