A garage was heavily damaged in a fire that broke out Saturday, June 16, on Birch Avenue in central Tracy, according to Tracy Fire Department officials.

Division Chief Andrew Kellogg said the department received the a call about the fire at 8:44 p.m. Crews arriving on scene found smoke pouring from the garage and light smoke coming from the roof of a home at 1465 Birch Ave.

Neighbors reported the fire, as the residents were not home battle the fire, Kellogg said.

Kellogg said the fire did not spread into the house, and crews pushed the fire back through the front of the garage, limiting the damage caused.

Kellogg said preliminary damage estimates are $45,000 for the structure and $25,000 for the contents. No one was injured.
