Ellie May (pictured) and her sister, Rosie, are 3-month-old mixed-breed puppies available for adoption from Animal Rescue of Tracy. The pups are playful and bright, learning basic commands and adapting to sleeping in crates. They are expected to be 50 pounds or larger when grown — likely with some collie and American Staffordshire heritage — though Ellie is the smaller of the two.

Several other puppies are also available. During a “Dog and Cat Days of Summer” promotion, Animal Rescue of Tracy is offering $20 off adoption fees until mid-August.

The nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group has adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays in the Macy’s wing of the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road. Members can also arrange to show animals during the week. For information: 642-4324 or www.animalrescuetracy.org.

This 10-year-old domestic shorthair at the Tracy Animal Shelter needs a home. She is spayed and ready for adoption. The staff is seeking donations of canned food for dogs and cats, dog toys, puppy and kitten formula and flea shampoo.

The shelter, 370 Arbor Road, is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information: 831-6364 or www.facebook.com/pages/City-of-Tracy-Animal-Services/111907492220255.
