Mr. Arteaga was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Zacatecas, Mexico, and had lived in Tracy the past 47 years.
He worked in all aspects of row farming for 45 years and was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include three stepchildren, Dena Leonardo, and her husband, Larry, of Ripon, Gregory Reed of Mount Ida, Ariz., and Rick Reed of Stockton; five siblings, Maria Isabel Arteaga Rosales, Francisca Arteaga Santamaria, Jacinto Arteaga Rosales, Adalberto Arteaga Rosales and Armando Arteaga Rosales, all of Southern California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 30 years, Mary Ann Arteaga, who died in 1995; his parents, Leodegario and Anacleta Arteaga; and a brother, Mauro Arteaga Rosales.
Tuesday’s Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Burial will be in Tracy Cemetery, 501 W. Schulte Road. Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, followed by a vigil at 6 p.m., at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave.
