This corgi-Chihuahua mix urgently needs a home, as his owner has a serious medical condition and hopes to place 2-year-old Petey with a caring person or family. Petey is shy around strangers but develops a strong bond to a favorite person and will snuggle and stay close by. Rescuers describe his gentleness and loyalty as his most endearing traits. Petey is neutered, microchipped, crate-trained and house trained, and his vaccinations are current. He gets along with other dogs and would do best with older children. Animal Rescue of Tracy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group that has pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays at the West Valley Mall. In addition, a Pet Lovers’ Expo on Saturday, May 19, the first sponsored by Animal Rescue of Tracy, will fill the Target wing of the West Valley Mall with pet-related exhibits and vendors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors can learn about local pet services, enter to win raffle prizes and view artwork of rescue animals created by the children of Tracy Homeschoolers’ Network. Donations and proceeds will help the rescue group care for the animals. For information: 642-4324 or www.animalrescuetracy.org.
