The event, hosted every year by Skips Promotions, draws riders from all around Northern California to compete in a range of age groups and ability levels. The 2011 series started in March and will conclude with the final rounds on Nov. 5 and 6.
Tracy riders to compete in Saturday’s events included Kyle Shipman, who took first-place in the Stock 66-85cc, C Class, contest, making his way up Sportsman Hill in 16.706 seconds. He is also the series leader in that event, and the November hillclimb will be his chance to become the 2011 champion in his division. Also competing in that division was Hunter Graham, who got as far as 401 feet, but didn’t make the finish line on either one of his two tries and finished seventh.
Ryan Shipman took first place in the Stock 51-65cc, C Class, division.
Competing in the Stock 126-250cc B Class was Brock Soares, who placed third in his event.
Riding in the four-stroke, 251-400cc, C Class, was Tracy’s Mike Wheeler, who finished first with a time of 13.961 seconds. Marco Vasquez of Tracy also competed in that class, and finished eighth, making it 279 feet up the hill but still short of the finish line.
Additional races were held on Sunday. Those results will be added when they become available.
