Mr. Church died Monday, Dec. 3, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 10, 1930, in Tracy, he graduated in 1949 from Tracy High School and entered the U.S. Air Force. He served in the 3340th Training Squadron as an aviation mechanic instructor at Sheppard and Amarillo Air Force bases in Texas, working on early jet engines.
Returning to Tracy, he owned Church’s Refrigeration with his brother for 22 years and then founded Church’s Pump Service, which he ran for 10 years.
Mr. Church was a member of Tracy Loyal Order of the Moose No. 2283 and the Good Sam Motoring Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Donovan, and her husband, Bryan, of Ferndale, Wash., and Carol Pestana, and her husband, Steven, of Fort Jones; a son, Paul Church of Tracy; a brother, Weldon Church, and his wife, Marilyn, of Berkeley; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, of 22 years, Shirley Dalton Church; and his second wife, of 13 years, Harriet Church.
Tuesday’s memorial will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Burial will be private.
