Born April 30, 1942, in Oakland, Mrs. Baier attended Jefferson School and was a 1960 graduate of Tracy High School. She was an employee of H.J. Heinz Co. for 20 years and worked at the Tracy and Manteca water treatment plants, retiring as a lab supervisor.
She was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, a member of the Italian Catholic Federation of Tracy and a past member of the local Children’s Home Society. She had been a Banta 4-H Club leader and member of the Banta School parent-faculty association.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, William Baier of Tracy; two children, William Baier Jr., and his wife, Shannon, and Kristen Baier Correia, and her husband, George, all of Banta; two siblings, Patricia Stanton of Camano Island, Wash., and Greg Hoffman of Wenatchee, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Eileen Hoffman, and a brother, Robert Hoffman Jr.
Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., handled arrangements. Burial was in Tracy Cemetery, 501 W. Schulte Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions in Mrs. Baier’s name to UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center; checks should be payable to UC Regents and may be mailed to UC Davis Health Sciences, Development, 4900 Broadway, Ste. 1150, Sacramento, CA 95820.
