Tickets are available for Tracy’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast fundraiser, which takes place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Monday.

The 13th annual event is hosted by the black student unions at Tracy, West and Stein high schools.

The event will start with a catered breakfast and continue with a 90-minute program of speeches, dance, poetry readings, songs and scholarship presentations.

The keynote speaker is Maisha Beasley, an administrator from St. Mary’s College in Moraga.

Breakfast will include sausage, bacon, eggs, smothered potatoes, biscuits, juices and coffee and will be served from the event’s start until 9:30 a.m.

Tickets are $9 and can be bought in advance at West High or at the door on the day of the event, at the Tracy Community Center, 300 E. 10th St.

Proceeds will pay for students to attend the United Black Student Union of California annual convention in March.

In addition to the student unions, the city, Tracy Unified School District and Tracy African-American Association will sponsor the event.
