Two wrestlers bring home medals from SJWA championships

Three Tracy wresters competed in the The San Joaquin Wrestling Association Championships Saturday, May 21, at Livingston High School. The championships were by invitation only. Two of the Tracy USA Wrestling Club wrestlers brought home medals.

In the middle school division, Noah Blackwell won all of his matches to win the gold medal and bring home the SJWA championship All-Star jacket. In the intermediate Division, Eli Blackwell finished second in his class.

Other members of the Tracy USA club went to Liberty High School in Brentwood to compete. Micah Viloria took first in the Rookie Division, Gregory Viloria placed first in both the Novice and Schoolboy divisions, Amrit Singh was first in both the Cadet and Junior divisions, and Lucas Furtado was first in his class in the Cadet Division.

Hurricanes go 1-2 in Lodi tournament

The Tracy Hurricanes 16U Boys AAU basketball Red team (5-8) competed in the NorCal Hoops “Drive-the-Paint” Invitational tournament on Saturday, May 21, in Lodi. The Hurricanes competed against older teams in the high school division and brought a fast-paced game fed by an aggressive defense.

The Hurricanes lost their opening round games to the Concord Wildcats 77-62 and NorCal Stars 66-54 before finishing strong with a victory against the NorCal Flying Tigers 70-66.

Top scorers for the Hurricanes in the 3-game tournament were Jordan McIntosh with 56 points, Chandler Alves and Luke Hanna with 32 points each, and Millard Hampton and Anthony Miller with 28 points each.
