Local roundup: Gymnasts win top awards at Rohnert Park meet

The Classic Gymnastics Xcel silver team won first place at the Gymnastics in the Wine Country meet Saturday and Sunday in Rohnert Park.

Leading the team to a winning score of 110.950, which beat five other teams, was Arabella Gutierrez. Her first-place all-around score (35.3) in the younger group included gold-medal performances on uneven bars (9.375), balance beam (9.425) and floor exercise (9.2). Keelin O’Leary placed second all-around (36.975) in the middle age group, and Elianna Murray, third all-around (36.8), took the gold medal on bars (9.625).

Classic’s bronze team also won its division with a score of 111.525, beating three other teams. Sarah Dorn swept the younger age group with gold medals for all-around (37.2), vault (9), bars (9.7), beam (9.3) and floor (9.2). Kayla Coubrough was second all-around (36.85) in the middle age group with gold medals in vault (9.2) and bars (9.575). Amber Musskopf won the older age group with gold medals for all-around (37.175), bars (9.65) and beam (9.25).

Classic’s gold team placed second of five teams in its division (107.125). Sarah Sailors won the all-around gold medal (36.55), with first-place marks in vault (9.175), bars (9.4) and floor (9.075). Shelby Hurd was second all-around (35.625), and Luisa Santiago-Vazquez was fourth all-around (34.875) with a gold medal on beam.

WSC U11 Fury wins state cup final

West Coast Soccer’s under-11 Fury claimed the Nor Cal State Cup championship Sunday in Turlock with a 3-1 victory over Pleasanton Rage. Tracy girls playing for the Livermore-based team included Kourtney Kessler, who scored one of Fury’s goals, and defenders Jamie Conklin, Alyssa Garcia and Trinity Sandridge.

Fury reached the title match with a penalty kick shootout win against Livermore Fusion after the teams played to a 0-0 tie. Jennifer Baron of Tracy made the winning shot in the penalty kick round to advance her team.

U11 Xplosion tops in Cabernet Winter League

The Tracy Futbol Club under-11 girls Xplosion won the Winter League title this week at Cabernet Indoor Sports in Livermore after the girls went 6-1-1 for the season.

Wins included a 4-3 victory against Pleasanton Rage Premier in the championship game Tuesday, when Montana Grant and Allison Rickman scored goals for Xplosion.

Xplosion also won a penalty kick shootout against West Coast Soccer on Monday. The teams were tied 4-4 at the end of regulation and overtime play, with goals scored by Grant, Danya Gonzales, Allyson Thompson and Kayla Vieira. Gonzales scored the winning shot in the penalty kick shootout.
