Services were conducted this week for John A. Moore, 85, a resident of Tracy for 43 years, who died Saturday, June 22, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Mr. Moore was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Claremont, Okla., and worked 31 years as a machine operator for Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Oakland and Tracy.

He also served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.

Mr. Moore was a member of the Banta Horse Club and Tabernacle of Praise in Manteca.

Survivors include four children, Christine Marie Hartly, and her husband, Fred, of Prescott, Ariz., Sharon Viola Weaver, and her husband, Robert, of Tracy and David Andrew Moore and Anna Louise Moore, both of San Jose; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 55 years, Fredia Moore, who died in 2006; a son, John Auston Moore Jr.; four brothers; and four sisters.

Burial was in Tracy Cemetery, 501 W. Schulte Road. Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., handled arrangements.
