The mother of a 9-year-old student at Traina Elementary School says Golden sexually molested her daughter during the 2012-13 school year, according to a press release from Stockton attorney Allan F. Jose.
Jose filed a lawsuit on behalf of the student, named as Jane Doe, in San Joaquin County Superior Court on Sept. 5.
Golden, 59, was arrested on Aug. 5 in Tracy after being indicted by a San Joaquin County grand jury on Aug. 2 on 21 counts of lewd acts upon a child, 11 counts of molesting a child and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Susan Moffit, former principal at Traina Elementary School, allegedly knew about claims of abuse before the 2012-13 school year but failed to report the claims to law enforcement as required by California’s mandated reporter laws, the release states.
She allegedly “privately reprimanded” Golden and let him return to teaching.
Golden allegedly “sexually and physically molested” Jane Doe while serving as her teacher at Traina during the school year, the release states.
He was allegedly seen having inappropriate contact with a student at Traina on Nov. 28, and was placed on administrative leave.
Golden is being held on $22 million bail in the San Joaquin County Jail. A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 7.
Jefferson Superintendent Dr. James Bridges had no comment on what he called “this ongoing legal matter.” This lawsuit is at least the second suit filed against the district regarding Golden this year.
A second Jane Doe filed a civil lawsuit July 8
in San Joaquin County Superior Court, according to online court records. No other information was available by press time Thursday, Oct. 11.
According to the indictment, the alleged incidents involved four boys and 10 girls between the ages of 6 and 10, from August 2006 to June 2007; from August 2011 to May 2011; and in August 2012 and November 2012.
Golden is accused of touching the children on their genitals, chest, buttocks and stomach. It also alleges that he fed grapes to several of the children.
