In Service: Local woman starts Navy medical training

Seaman Apprentice Katherine C. Duren of Tracy graduated from boot camp March 30 at the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., at the conclusion of eight weeks of training.

Duren, 18, graduated from Tracy High School in 2011 and is the daughter of Wayne and Julie Duren of Tracy.

She is stationed at Fort Sam Houston in Texas and will be trained in the Navy’s Basic Medical Corpsman Program.
