Investigators have identified the body of a man found Monday in an irrigation ditch east of Tracy but will wait to release his name until the man’s family is notified.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s spokesman Les Garcia said the man is not from San Joaquin County.

A jogger found the body at 9:15 a.m. Monday near Kasson and Greenwood roads, about 10 miles east of town.

Drag marks on the shoulder of the road and a trail of bloodstains in the dirt led to the partially clothed body, which investigators concluded was dumped there after being killed elsewhere.

The man apparently was killed by blows to the head, said investigators, who are searching for homicide suspects.
