The “Travel the World” Kids’ Art Expo, sponsored by Tracy Homeschoolers on Meetup.com, will begin at 10 a.m. in the Macy’s wing of the West Valley Mall and continue until 4 p.m.
Throughout the day, activities will augment the display of some 120 pieces of art, which the students between the ages of 5 and 8 created during weekly art-appreciation and cooking classes.
“Each week, students study about a different part of the world and then cook a dessert recipe from that region, as well as study an artist from that region” explained Sarah McNamara, teacher of the weekly classes at her home.
She said the work of an artist or photographer of each region serves as a guide for students making their own pieces of art.
Saturday’s Kids’ Art Expo, free to the public, will include free crafts and snacks, face-painting, visits from Doodles the Clown, Barnes & Noble story time, Noah’s Arc Foundation character story time, Auntie Anne’s pretzel demonstration and Intermissions Productions’ “Dangerous Dinos” show.
Each person will receive a free “passport” explaining the artwork on display.
