Golf: Tracy at 5-0 midway through SJAA play

Tracy 200, Franklin 259

Tracy finished the first round of San Joaquin Athletic Association play with a 5-0, first place record and an 8-1 record for the season. Tracy’s 200-259 win over Franklin on Tuesday at Old River Golf Course included scores of 38 on the par-36 course for both Carter Duerksen and Nick McCleery. Anthony Manguray shot 39, Shivam Swamy and Robert Erler both shot 42 and Brian Mantor shot 46.

Tracy starts the second round of league play on Thursday against Lincoln at Tracy Golf and Country Club.

St. Mary’s 201, West 265

St. Mary’s claimed a win over the West golfers on Tuesday at Tracy Golf and Country Club to start the second round of Tri-City Athletic League play. It puts West at 4-2 and second place in the TCAL. Brandon Vergel de Dios led the Wolf Pack team with score of 43 on the par-36 course. Allan Silveira shot 44, Edward Sembrano 53, Kyle Selna 59, and Nick Carrera shot 66. Top scores for the day were Ray Tira and Colin Reischell of St. Mary’s, who both shot 39.

Sonora 212, Kimball 231

Kimball High’s golfers moved to 4-7 in the Valley Oak League, 6-9 overall with a loss on Tuesday to Sonora at Mountain Springs Golf Course in Sonora. Brett Williams led the Jaguars team with a score of 41 on the par-36 course. Philip Simpson shot 44, Riley Pizl 46, Michael Crooms 49, Chris Messenger 51, and Theo Forniciari shot 64.
