Golf teams approach midway point of league seasons

The Tracy golf team approaches the midway point of the San Joaquin Athletic Association season with loss to Lodi High, 235-321 at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club in Woodbridge on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Leading scorer for Tracy on Wednesday was Junior Kirsten Bas, who shot 48 on the par-37 course. Tracy also got contributions from Junior Alee Balanon (64), freshman Kylie Mantor (68), junior Kelsi Vasquez (70) and senior Lindsey Raaker (71).

Tracy(4-3, 2-3 SJAA) started the week with a 299-378 win over Chavez, at Tracy Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Sophomore Hunter Andrade was Tracy’s scoring leader on Tuesday with a score of 53 on the par-36 course. Top golfers from Tracy also included Vasquez (55) and senior Brooke Davis (58).

It followed a 223-294 loss to Lincoln High on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Brookside Country Club inStockton. Balanon and Vasquez both shot 55.


East Union 220, Kimball 269

The Jaguars traveled to Manteca Park Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and finished with a 220-269 loss to East Union High in Valley Oak League competition. Leading scorer for Kimball (3-2 VOL) was Maya Crooms, who scored 43 on the par-37 course. Also contributing to Kimball’s score were senior Taylor Honnoll (54), junior Allyssa Lewis (57), senior Savannah Dunniway (57) and sophomore Patricia Fabila (58).

The Jaguars won their previous match by one stroke, 272-273, when they hostedMantecaon Thursday, Sept. 12, at Tracy Golf and Country Club. Honnoll led the Jaguar team with a score of 44 on the par-37 course.


St. Mary's 256, West 295

The West High girls took a Tri-City Athletic League loss, 256-295, on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Old River Golf Course against St. Mary’s. Senior Ashley Gonzales shot 47 on the par-36 course to lead the Wolf Pack (0-4, 0-3 TCAL). Also contributing to West’s score were sophomore Bobbi Loggins (55), junior Samantha McCain (62), junior Gabrielle Taylor (62) and sophomore Audrey Romo (69).

West fielded a full golf team for the first time this year on Thursday, Sept. 12, against Tokay High of Lodi, with Tokay taking the 260-281 win at Old River Golf Course.

Gonzales led the Wolf Pack team with a score of 45 on the par-36 course, and sophomore Bobbi Loggins scored 50. In her first match, sophomore Audrey Romo scored 63.
