I was glad to read that 100 pounds of illegal fireworks were confiscated in Tracy before they could cause injury or property damage. But sadly, this 100-pound reduction had no discernable effect on the total quantity of illegal fireworks launched and exploded in Tracy — so I’m guessing that thousands of pounds remained in the hands of the citizenry.
It’s my impression that there is essentially zero enforcement of the fireworks laws in Tracy. The Press reported that the police department received 77 fireworks-related calls, but was anything done as a result of the calls? Even without calls, the illegal use is not hard to locate. As I drove into my neighborhood at 10 p.m., I could see three aerial displays, all illegal and within 100 yards of my house. They continued until after midnight.
Tracy should announce a zero-tolerance policy for illegal fireworks, provide vigorous enforcement, and then publicize the number of citations and fines. In a year or two, this dangerous disturbance would subside.

You are hereby enlightened.
I enjoyed the fireworks
They keep of list of gang members. Why not a list of these inconsiderate and potentially dangerous neighbors???
I was told that there were tougher laws and serious jail time if you got caught with the stuff a few years ago, yet I'm not seeing much enforcement which is sad. To use that stuff legally you have to hire professionals, have permits and have fire protection on site. No small feat and not cheap.
I agree that this has gotten out of hand and a few major arrests and convictioins could solve the whole thing and prevent unnecessary injuries and property losses in the future.
Ya bemoan yer loss of freedom but fail ta comprehend that yer freedom's end when they start ta impinge on someone else's rights an freedoms.
But hey, when th world personally revolves around you then nothin else really matters.
