As of Wednesday, Nov. 28, statistics from the registrar’s website showed Galgiani with a 2,406 vote lead over Berryhill — 140,492 to 138,086 — in the district that includes all of San Joaquin County and small portions of southern Sacramento County and northern Stanislaus County.
San Joaquin Registrar of Voters Austin Erdman cautioned that it’s possible for the lead to change by the time the votes must certified. The deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Erdman said many ballots, including 1,600 in San Joaquin County alone, needed to be checked to ensure they were properly cast.
“I don’t predict outcomes of races,” he said. “Mathematically, it could flip the other way.”
The race has already flipped once.
Early returns on Election Day showed Berryhill with about a 6,000-vote advantage. But Galgiani steadily narrowed the gap, finally overtaking the Republican on Nov. 21, according to Erdman.
“That’s very typical in races that are close,” he said. “They can flop back and forth — that’s why I don’t predict the outcome of races.”
Erdman hoped to have his final count finished and posted to the county website Saturday, Dec. 1, and certify the results Monday, Dec. 3.
Once the election results are certified, a recount could be demanded by a registered voter.
“There’s nothing in the election code that would trigger a recount, except for a registered voter stepping forward,” he said.
Erdman said such a request could be expensive, as the burden for funding any recount would fall on the requesting party.
A Berryhill representative, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak with the media, said the campaign doesn’t plan to request a recount.
Galgiani was scheduled to be sworn in to her new office Monday, Dec. 3, according to her campaign manager, Thomas Lawson.
She did not return a request for comment as of 9 a.m. Thursday.

This is my point about the Republican mind set, which is why I am relieved that she won. Being a working single mom is seen as inferior rather than testimony to a woman's strength. This is exactly single women like me vote Democratic. We know what lies in the lurch if God forbid Republicans took over office. We would lose the precious rights we do have in this country. We don't want to go back to the dark ages, and that exactly where the Republicans want to take us. All their rhetoric about America wanting to liberate poor countries should apply to wanting to keep America liberated too. I don't belong to Romney's binders. I follow Michelle Obama's lead.
If people do not fight about the political financial state... you won't have to worry about too many other issues.

You may have already forgotten... the majority of the House was re-elected Republican and will hopefully grow enough stones to block Obama's requested tax hikes. The Government takes in more revenue than ever and yet continues to spend even more.
FYI.... In 2010 Britain raised the tax rate on $150,000 and above to 50%. 2/3 either left the country or reduced their taxes resulting in an unexpected $7 billion dollar loss of revenue instead of an expected gain.

If you don't understand economics could you at least not stand in the way so producers can drive the economy to make money ? I'd gladly pay more in takes if I could figure out how to make more. Additionally, could you get some different schooling on how this stuff works ?

It violates a basic proven law of economics... There is still no such thing. Worse, the bill has yet to be presented.
I cannot support Cathleen's Bullet Train position @ $8 billion for the 1st 130 mile phase. No required private partnership money has materialized.
A 500 mile buildout through more congested areas or mountains equates to over a $100 billion dollars. Also, don't let the fact that the U.S. train manufactures have not built one approaching that speed let alone the 2.7 million renewable required kilowatt hours needed each day which is about 1/4 of the Hoover Dam's output.
If all you can see are the skid marks in your drawers debb you have a limited view of life, not that there isn't something to hold your interest...

We wonder why this state is in such terrible financial shape...and yet we continue to elect the same mistakes over and over again.
FYI, during her previous campaign against a Republican who's name I cannot remember I openly and vigorously defended Galgiani when her opponent criticized her for not having kids at her age. I made the point whether a woman or man, single or married, what does not having children have to do with a persons values, credibility, or ability to do a job.
I suggest you pay closer attention to what people say before popping off - oh wait, facts mean absolutley nothing to you.
By the way, I voted for Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, and hoped Romney picked Condoleezza Rice for his running mate. I also criticized a certain Town Crier back in 08 for yaking about how proud she was a black man could become president while saying nothing about a woman having the chance to become president.
Here's where women like you miss the boat, I love woman, I think without them us men would be a mess. I think it would be great to have a woman president. However, I can't stand ugly and hateful women like you - I don't mean ugly in the looks department, I mean ugly where it counts, your heart.
