Local football games this weekend include the home opener for Kimball High’s teams and the renewal of the Tracy-Manteca intercity rivalry.

The Jaguars will be the home team against West High in sophomore and freshman contests Friday night at Steve Lopez Stadium. Both sophomore teams will seek their first win of the year.

The Kimball freshmen team won last week’s game against Liberty Ranch, while the West freshmen seek their first win of the year. The freshmen will play at 5 p.m., and sophomores will play at 7:15.

The Tracy High Bulldogs will face off against the Manteca High Buffaloes in a rivalry that dates back to 1925 and was renewed two years ago as a pre-league matchup for both teams.

The Buffaloes won in 2007, 23-13, and again last year, 27-22. This year, both teams bring back last year’s offensive playmakers for Friday night’s varsity game at Wayne Schneider Stadium. Sophomores will play at 5 p.m., varsity at 7:30.

West High’s varsity goes on the road to California High in San Ramon. Cal High is the only team that wasn’t on West’s schedule last year, and both teams will seek their first win of the year Friday at 7:15 p.m.

The Millennium High Falcons will also go on the road Friday to West Campus in Sacramento, where the Falcons seek their first win of the season against the Warriors, who started their season last week with a win. They kick off at 7 p.m.
