STOCKTON — A former Tracy elementary substitute teacher pleaded no contest this morning to charges of child pornography possession and molestation.
If convicted, Jessie Llorente III, 39, could face up to five years of probation or up to three years in state prison. The former Kelly School substitute appeared in the Stockton courthouse for a few minutes this morning.
Llorente faces nine felony counts of lewd acts upon a child, nine misdemeanor counts of child molestation and one felony count of possessing child pornography.
San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Franklin Stephenson said Llorente, who is in custody at the county jail in French Camp, would have to appear in court again at 8:30 a.m., Nov. 3 for his sentencing. Stephenson said Llorente would have to register for life as a sex offender. He also ordered a doctor’s report to gauge the likelihood of Llorente committing similar crimes after his release.
Llorente spoke a few times during the hearing, only to say “Yes, I do your honor,” when Stephenson asked if he agreed to waive his right to a trial and if he understood that a no contest plea is basically the same as guilty.
Llorente, who graduated from Tracy High School in 1988, had also served as a substitute teacher in San Jose and Los Angeles. Tracy police arrested him on March 19.
Police said at the time that Llorente became aroused while touching the hair and shoulders of eight of the girls he taught. When officers went to the school to talk to him, police said Llorente admitted to owning child pornography. Police then seized his laptop, in which they said they found the illegal material.
