Services were held Thursday for Esther M. Rodriguez, 92, a Tracy High School graduate, who died Friday.

Mrs. Rodriguez, a Modesto native, was born Jan. 12, 1922, and raised from the age of 5 in Banta and Bethany, where her father was a section foreman for Southern Pacific Railroad. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1939, and she was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane M. Taylor of Tracy; a son, James M. Rodriguez, and his wife, Betty, of San Jose; a son-in-law, Pat V. Merjil of Tracy; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 67 years, John O. Rodriguez; two children, Barbara B. Merjil and Frederic J. Rodriguez; three siblings, Charles L. Guevara, Eleanor L. Estrada and Edward Guevara; and her parents, Joe and Belen Guevara.

Burial was in Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road. Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., handled arrangements, and an online guest book can be viewed at
