Cross-Country: Kimball girls second at meet, boys fourth

Kimball High’s varsity girls cross-country team held on to its second-place standing in the Valley Oak League at the latest league cluster meet Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Knight’s Ferry.

Varsity girls

Kimball’s varsity girls placed second with an average time of 24:09 on the 5K course.

Kimball lost to Manteca (24-31), and recorded wins over Oakdale (15-45), Weston Ranch (20-38), East Union (21-36) and Sierra (23-34), and wins by forfeit over Lathop and Sonora.

Kimball junior Francesca Loayza placed second with a time of 21:34. Kimball’s other runners were Anna Carrasco (23:35), Sophia Dalida (24:58), Chayah Sharma (25:17), Joanna Zhu (25:18) and Jemiyah Castro (25:34).

Varsity boys

Kimball’s varsity boys finished in fourth place, with an average time of 21:06 on the 5K course.

They topped Lathrop (19-36), East Union (20-38), Weston Ranch (21-36) and Oakdale (21-34), but lost to Manteca (15-47), Sierra (16-45) and Sonora (21-36).

Kimball senior Rigo Carrasco placed 14th overall with a time of 19:57 on the 5K course.

Kimball’s other runners and their times include Kamryn Van Allen (20:39), Laurence Paulite (20:46), Roger Gomez (21:57), Greg Dawson (22:08) and Christian Andrews (24:11).
