The Tracy Blaze Girls Under-13 soccer team went 4-0 for this past weekend to claim the championship trophy at the Mission Valley United Kick-or-Treat Halloween Tournament in Fremont.

The Blaze opened on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a 5-0 win against West Valley United as Madison Salazar, Jennifer Romero, Shelby Bartlett, Karina Rodriguez and Giana Jong all scored goals.

The Blaze came back from a 2-1 halftime deficit in the second game, boosted by Romero’s goal in the final minutes, to beat Pacifica United Stingrays 3-2.

In the third game, the Blaze beat the Montclair Clippers 3-0 in the semifinal on Sunday, Oct. 27. Goalies Anjelica Gonzales and Alyssa Thweatt recorded their second shutout of the weekend, supported by Megan Perry, Madison Pugh and Giana Jong on defense and Megan Johnson, Jazmine Yaeger, Maria Mendicino, and Eliana Schreppel at midfield.

The Blaze beat Almaden FC Quicksilver 5-0 in the championship game. Madison Salazar scored the first of her three goals for the day off of Giana Jong’s corner kick. Christina Mendoza scored on an assist from Ashley Wells, and Karina Rodriguez also scored for the Blaze.
