Classic Gymnastics begins season in Fremont

Classic Gymnastics of Tracy began the girls compulsory gymnastics season at The Pink Meet, Sept 14 and 15, at Bay Aerials in Fremont.

The event drew 400 gymnasts from 22 gyms, and admission fees and donations helped raise more than $10,000 for breast cancer research.

Classic’s level 3 team placed third with a team score of 102.175. Meiko Lee placed second all-around with a score of 34.275, which included third place on the balance beam (8.525) and fourth on the vault (9.0), uneven bars (8.5) and floor exercise (8.25). Macie Gimenes was fourth all-around (33.2), with a third-place mark on the vault (9.05), Danielle Marieiro placed fifth (33.175) and was second on the bars (8.85), and Marley Betancourt placed sixth (32.85) and was first on the floor exercise (8.6).

Competing at level 4 was Vanessa Manjarrez, who was fifth all-around (33.55), including first on the floor (8.75) and third on the beam (8.85). Aryanna Archuleta placed 13th all-around (30.5)

Valerie Llacuna competed at level 5, wehre she placed second on the vault (9.0), sixth on the floor (8.1) and eighth on the beam (7.7).
