Tracy High senior Anthony Nunez gained sectionwide recognition for his achievements as the Bulldog football team’s punter for the 2013 season.

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Sacramento Valley Chapter, named Nunez — who also plays wide receiver and defensive back — as the punter for the all-Sac-Joaquin Section football team.

Nunez logged 32 punts in 12 games, totaling 1,378 yards and averaging more than 43 yards per punt, the best average in the San Joaquin Athletic Association, according to statistics on MaxPreps.com. His was the third-longest punting average in the section and 12th-best average in the state, according to MaxPreps.

The foundation also recognized Tracy High junior running back Nate Jones as an honorable mention. Jones ran for 1,174 yards in 12 games to lead the SJAA, with more than 10 yards per carry and nearly 98 yards per game on average.
