Tracy High’s cheerleading squad has brought home a national championship, placing first out of five teams in the Show Cheer Level 1 Large division at the JAMZ Nationals on Feb. 21 in Las Vegas.

Tracy High cheer coaches Sheila Soares and Lauren Ortega worked with the 21 members of the team to develop their elaborate stunt routines during the fall and winter sports seasons, when the cheerleaders regularly performed at football and basketball games.

They competed at JAMZ regional events on Nov. 3 at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium and in January at UC Davis, placing second in both events.

Cheer team members are Ana Oliver-Aguilar, Autumn Aguilera, Karlie Brown, Makaela Bournazian, Mariya Cortez, Heavyen Deneau, Ashley Diaz, Kennedy Gray, Brianna Hernandez, Jaid Jackson, Milan Jackson, Tayler Krolczyk, Kierra Link, Nicole Maestas, Nalia Martinez, Megan Morse, Korynn Pope, Ciarra Sample, Lauren Shankel, Arielle Tabar and Bailey Vollbrecht.
