Defense Distribution Depot of San Joaquin has been on

lockdown and Chrisman Road has been closed since 9 a.m. today after a

suspicious package arrived in the depot’s mail.

The package went through the depot’s X-ray machine, just as

all incoming mail to the depot does. Depot workers called San Joaquin County

Sherriff’s bomb squad after they found what a spokesperson at the depot called

“suspicious materials.”

Annette Silva, a spokeswoman for the depot, said she’s not

sure what’s in the package.

“They found something out of the norm,” she explained. “So

we’re just kind of in a holding pattern for now.”

The Defense Distribution Depot distributes goods and

supplies to all branches of the U.S. military throughout the nation and

overseas.
