After years of owning and working at spas, Garnet Turner realized her entrepreneurial fantasy when she moved into a spot in downtown Tracy.

“It’s my dream to own a boutique,” Turner said from the bright front room of her new business, Talk of the Town Spa & Boutique, on the corner of Parker Avenue and 10th Street.

Turner said she’s “thrilled” with her new space and happy to finally operate both a spa and a shop.

Talk of the Town, which opened two weeks ago, offers beauty and health services — pedicures, manicures, facials, waxes, massages and full-body treatments — in addition to a collection of accessories and clothing that Turner describes as both classy and affordable.

The 15-year Tracy resident opens the shop’s doors generally from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, though calling 814-2908 for an appointment is recommended.

mnwild: As a matter of fact yes, I know first hand as do many other spa people here in town. Many women have worked with her and been wronged by her both legally and morally. We all chose to walk away.

I give her credit for trying again too. I think she will do better on her own.

I'll give it one thing...it looks like a cute place and downtown can always use more businesses.

Shelly13: Do you know first hand that she "has a bad reputation for running a business", or is what you've written, "hearsay and not admissible in a court of law"? I know these blogs are the "court of public opinion", but was it really necessary to offer your "two cents" in such a negative manner? I know nothing of the lady and her past successes or failures, but given the present economic climate, I give her credit for giving it the old "college try"!

Really??? Many people have worked with her and for her and they are all gone for a reason.

The "Talk of the Town" here in Tracy is really that she has a bad reputation for running a business.

Good luck to you! Always happy to see new businesses open up.

Is it normal that downtown Tracy shuts down on Sundays? Is everyone at church? what's the deal?
