Ready to let go of your old electronic junk?
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, there will be an e-waste collection at the Boyd Service Center, 520 Tracy Blvd.
Tracy, San Joaquin County and Onsite Electronics are sponsoring this free event to help people get rid of their old electronics and to raise recycling awareness. They are also accepting more than just computers. Some of the items that can be recycled are cell phones, TVs, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, Styrofoam and old thermostats or thermometers containing mercury.
An unlimited amount of Styrofoam can be recycled because it can be used for a variety of sustainable green building products. By recycling Styrofoam, a large amount of landfill space is saved.
However, they will not accept bubble wrap, packing peanuts, food and beverage containers or car batteries.
To recycle more than 20 electronics, special arrangements can be made by calling 243-7994. There will be another e-waste recycling event in October.
