The Millennium baseball team took the advantage in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII best-of-three playoff semifinal series with a 6-2 win over Brookside Christian at McAuliffe Memorial Ballparks in Sacramento on Saturday, May 19.

The Falcon (19-7, 9-1 Central California Athletic Alliance) defense played error-free ball to keep the Knights off the scoreboard even as Brookside (21-9, 6-4 CCAA) collected 12 walks and four hits.

Millennium’s 10 hits for the day included two each for Kyle Murawski, Drew Carroll and Tanner Carroll, doubles for Gavin Compton and Jose Avila, and singles for Austin Larson and Spencer Blackwell.

Starting pitcher Blackwell went for three innings and gave up four hits, seven walks and two runs for the win. Compton walked five and gave up no runs or hits in four innings pitched.

The Falcons and Knights play the second game Tuesday, May 22, at McAuliffe Ballparks. A third game, if necessary, would be played immediately following the second to determine which team heads to the Division VII championship game on Monday, May 28.
