About 3,000 people turned out for a car show downtown hosted Saturday, July 21, by the Tracy City Center Association, according to the group’s director, Jan Couturier. Classic cars and trucks of all shapes, makes and models lined 10th Street and Central Avenue, while vendors poured beer, offered food and live music entertained.

This was a wonderful event co-sponsored by the Tracy City Center and City of Tracy! Both groups have worked hard together to bring fun family events to the community. We were thrilled with the turn out...and glad it was a success.

I want to thank the Lions, Rotary and Adopt-a-Family non-profits for their help with our beverage booths, our local merchants and business owners and the many, many others and volunteers who helped make this a success! We couldn't do it without each of you!

We look forward to seeing you at the next block party on Friday August 3rd, the Willie Nelson concerts, our upcoming Wine Stroll on September 29, Halloween, Witches & Broomsticks and much more holiday fun!

You are absolutely right DTB1445.

This is what can happen when the business community takes over for the city in the community events planning arena.

We need more of this from local businesses and the Downtown Business Owners Assoc. and less involvement from the city.

Wow, what a great start to what will hopefully be an ongoing yearly event!! This is the sort of thing that makes it good to be a Tracyite. I'm already looking forward to next year. Way to Go!
