Kevin and Linda Gann of Tracy celebrated their 20th anniversary Oct. 3, 2007.
The couple’s daughter, Amber Gann, hosted a celebration for friends and family on the day of the anniversary. Her parents planned to go out to dinner and then celebrate the occasion with loved ones later in the evening.
Kevin is a self-employed landscaper, and Linda is a homemaker. Linda was born and raised in Tracy, and Kevin moved to the area with his family when he was 18.
They met at a Stockton restaurant 22 years ago and started dating a couple of weeks later. Shortly after, Kevin proposed to Linda at a pizza parlor in Stockton. He handed her the ring, and she accepted, but then she accidentally dropped the ring into a pitcher of beer.
Jokingly, Kevin drank the pitcher to retrieve the ring. The couple then ordered another to celebrate the engagement.
They got married Oct. 3, 1987, at Kevin’s apartment in Stockton. They skipped the honeymoon but traveled to Southern California later in their marriage to make up for it.
In 1994, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy treatment. In the years to follow, she experienced other health complications. Kevin supported her through the hard times, and their marriage became stronger.
After 20 years of marriage, the couple said they feel blessed to have known each other and to spend their adult lives together. They look forward to many more years together.
