All-Stars open regional tourney with two wins

The Tracy Babe Ruth 9-year-old All-Stars started their Pacific Southwest Cal Ripken Regional Tournament with a pair of wins this week in Long Beach.

The team opened play Monday, July 23, with a 6-0 win over the host team, Los Altos, and followed that Tuesday, July 24, with a 19-1 win over Guam before losing 6-2 to Hawaii on Wednesday, July 25.

Twelve teams are competing for the regional title.

After three rounds of pool play, all teams move into bracket play, with the semifinal and championship games to be played Saturday, July 28.
