Lorenzo Hotel, 18, faces three counts of premeditated attempted murder and one count of shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
Speaking on Hotel’s behalf, attorney James Giller told Judge Ron Northup that Hotel wanted to enter his not guilty plea on all charges and agreed to waive his right to a speedy trial.
The prosecutor assigned to the case, Deputy District Attorney Mark Ott, agreed with Giller’s request to delay the preliminary hearing. He told the court he had a considerable amount of evidence to go over before the next hearing.
Although Giller had requested a bail review hearing after Northup denied Hotel bond during a Feb. 19 hearing, he did not bring up the subject Friday.
According to the criminal complaint, Hotel is accused of shooting a gun into an inhabited dwelling that police have identified as the eastern entrance of West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Rd., on Dec. 20.
The court document states that Hotel was allegedly trying to murder Jesus Herrera, Byron Thomas and an unknown woman that was identified as Jane Doe.
Hotel is scheduled to return to Manteca court at 8:30 a.m. on March 18.
