Local man competes in Rome, Chicago with speech team

Adam Neylan of Tracy and his teammates on the Las Positas Community College Talk Hawks earned a seventh-place finish at the International Forensics Association’s speech and debate tournament March 9 through 17 in Rome, Italy.

Neylan also earned a bronze medal at this month’s national championship tournament in Chicago for his oral interpretation of literature.

At the Northern California Forensics Association championship in February, the team finished in first place among community college teams. Neylan placed third in open programmed oral interpretation, third in open dramatic interpretation, fourth in open poetry interpretation and fifth in open duo interpretation.

Accolades runs in Our Town whenever we hear about someone who has done something extraordinary and deserves kudos for it. If you have news for Accolades, send it to, or drop off a note at the Tracy Press office.
