The Fall Wine Stroll in downtown Tracy will be later than originally scheduled this year, and it will take on a new masquerade element.

The date of the stroll, originally set for Oct. 1, has been moved back to Oct. 29 to avoid conflicts with high school homecoming activities on Fridays early in October.

Jan Couturier, manager of the recently formed Tracy City Center Association, said the later date — two days before Halloween — means the wine stroll will be the same night the Grand Theatre stages its haunted house.

“The Wine Stroll will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and the Grand’s haunted house begins at 9 p.m.,” she reported. “Adults with wine stroll glasses will receive a discount in taking part in the haunted house.”

Couturier said because of the tie-in with the haunted house, participants in the wine stroll are urged to wear masquerade attire as an option.

Plans for the Fall Wine Stroll are being completed by Dave Warta, who has been named coordinator of the annual evening of wine samples poured in downtown businesses, paired with food offerings on Central Avenue and West 10th Street.

Warta has had experience carrying out other local events, including a series of successful Festivals of Trees he and his wife, Pam, co-chaired for the sponsoring Tracy Hospital Foundation, Couturier noted.

I sure hope that the people pouring wine for this event are able to check the ages of the glass holders under any masks! Could easily be under-agers in those disguises. We don't need to read an article in the press the next day about anything going wrong. As a previous store participant, we were told ATF often "mingled" and made sure rules were followed ...hopefully this will be another successful event!
