Police Log: Knife flashes on Saturday night

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at Covey’s, 2712 Naglee Road, at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. A caller said that someone had been cut by a knife and that the person would need stitches on his face. Police didn’t find any weapon, however.

The suspect left with several other people, and police identified the man responsible belonged to a “group of motorcyclists wearing colors.” The victim was not seriously injured.

Tracy police received 485 calls for service between Friday, Aug. 27, and Sunday, Aug. 29. The following is a sample of those calls.



Friday

12:33 a.m.: Police arrested a woman’s ex-boyfriend on the 300 block of East Sixth Street after the woman complained he had left his bike in the backyard and had left her 20 phone messages.

8:07 a.m.: A guy with purple clothes and a sideways purple hat “pulled something out of his pocked and threw it in the bushes” on the corner of East and 10th streets.

8:51 a.m.: A woman in central Tracy said that her ex-boyfriend got into a fight with her, then later told dispatchers that he had raped her.

11:52 a.m.: A caller said that his daughter is being harassed by two other girls at Tracy High School, 315, E. 11th St., who have threatened to “shank her.” School officials were looking into it, according to the police log.

12:51 p.m.: Police were called after a man went into the Jack in the Box at 611 W. Grant Line Road and started yelling and throwing things because something was left out of his order.

3:53 p.m.: A caller said a man with a ponytail keyed the entire side of his car in the Walmart parking lot, 3010 W. Grant Line Road.

4:33 p.m.: Tabs were stolen from the license plate of a car on the 1100 block of Almond Blossom Drive.

5:52 p.m.: Police responded to an argument in the Walmart parking lot, 3010 W. Grant Line Road, over a parking spot.

8:55 p.m.: A woman reported hearing a gun or pellet gun shot that silenced a dog near Christy and Longfellow streets.

10:57 p.m.: Police warned a homeowner on the 500 block of Wagtail Drive to keep the dogs in the house because of “numerous complaints” from neighbors.



11:39 p.m.: A man was arrested at Chrisman and Schulte roads on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was seen driving north in the southbound lanes of Chrisman Road.

Saturday

12:35 a.m.: A caller at Tracy Community Church, 1790 Sequoia Boulevard, went to pick up his daughter after a church event ended at 11:30 p.m. the day before and that she was missing. The man called back and said that the girl returned home about a half-hour later.

1:54 a.m.: A driver in a white Chevy pickup was cited on the 1600 block of Griffith Court after the driver reportedly did doughnuts in the street.

4:11 a.m.: The driver of a white Acura Integra ran away from the car after hitting three cars while making a U-turn at 12th Street and Lincoln Boulevard. Police couldn’t find the driver but tagged the Acura as stolen property.

5:57 a.m.: A man on probation was arrested on the 1200 block of Johnson Court after a caller said he was walking around and being suspicious.

9:23 a.m.: A car window was smashed on the 1500 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

10:03 a.m.: A caller from Pete’s Liquors, 202 W. 11th St., called to complain about a neighboring business that grills chicken behind the store and constantly fills Pete’s and a nearby apartment building with smoke every weekend. The caller said the grillers are cooking “without a permit” and that his customers were complaining about the smoke.

11:29 a.m.: A caller from northern Tracy said that her 16-year-old’s boyfriend threatened her with a knife, saying “It’s either me or your friends.”

3:52 p.m.: A caller at Bob’s Market, 854 W. 11th St., said a man was riding his wheelchair in and out of traffic.

5:13 p.m.: A caller near the California Highway Patrol office, 385 W. Grant Line Road, that his Chrysler was just rear-ended in a hit-and-run accident.

6:52 p.m.: A caller found a suspicious looking piece of PVC pipe in Joseph Tiago Park, 1260 Eastlake Circle, but police determined it wasn’t a bomb.

9:47 p.m.: A possible duck-breeding operation was reported on the 1300 block of Dronero Way.

Sunday

3:45 a.m.: Customers left Denny’s, 3718 N. Tracy Blvd., without paying their tab.

6:41 a.m.: Police were called to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., for a teenage boy in the trauma center who was in restraints but still trying to flip over his bed.

3:40 p.m.: A caller on the 2100 block of Robert Gabriel Drive said two men were ringing on doorbells, possibly trying to see who was home and who wasn’t in preparation for a burglary attempt.

5:11 p.m.: Costco employees called about a woman who had been in the restroom for five hours at the store, 2140 W. Grant Line Road. The homeless woman was given a trespassing notice.

6:24 p.m.: Two men were fighting on the 1500 block of West 12th Street. They were detained by police.

8:24 p.m.: A caller near Highgate and Shelborne drives mistook fireworks for gunshots.

11:57 p.m.: A Honda Civic with the keys in it was found stripped of most of its parts on the 700 block of East Grant Line Road.

I was at Walmart when this happened and my first thought was, 'How 'bout you Roll Back the attitude ladies?' (Pun intended, sorry!)

- Spooky, doors17. I saw that too but did not mention it. In previous logs where Wagtail Drive is mentioned, a dog is usually involved. (had a hard time logging in again)

I loved Hendrix also Tinfoil, but since he'll be gone 40 years next month,(God does that make me feel old) I think it's most likely Prince.

The neighbors were probably were complaining because they were waking them up at the quack of dawn.

WOW, the name of the street is Wagtail, what are the odds on that one.

Probably a motorized one. I never wanted one since I wanted to get out of a W/C ASAP! From Bob's Market? No Drinking and Riding folks.

It was later determined that duck breeding operation was a success. The proud duck parents will soon be expecting a healthy new duckling.

She was also handed a membership application form - explaining the discounts and benefits - as Costco security escorted the homeless woman out the door.
